Catherine McCay is a misspelling of Catherine McCoy.
The defects in vision were enough to have Bridget refused entry and I have been told by her daughter that in fact this was the intention. A distinctive chalk mark made on her coat was erased by Kathleen McCoy and they both exited the reception hall unmolested and made their way by boat to Manhattan to begin their new life in America.
Subsequent events, where known Christina returned to Ireland once, in 1932, when Eddie returned for good. She married and had one child.

An interesting point is that the address given is the same as that for Susan Conlon on Alice's own arrival. Whether Mrs Conlon was still living there is not known. Perhaps Alice and her husband had rented or bought the property. However, when Eddie and Christina arrived in 1923, Mrs Conlon's address was different.

Perhaps Alice and her husband had rented or bought the property. However, when Eddie and Christina arrived in 1923, Mrs Conlon's address was different.
Subsequent events, where known Patrick became a jockey at the New York Aquaduct Race Track - apparently a really good one, too! He died when he was about 23 years old. Unfortunately, it appears that he had been robbed and beaten, and left in an alley, and was taken to Bellevue Hospital in New York City with no identification. He was in a coma for several weeks. Finally, a local police officer learned that his brother Eddie and sisters, Christina Devlin and Kathleen Martinez were looking for their brother and he told them about the "John Doe" who was at Bellevue. When they went there, they discovered it was Patrick. He died shortly thereafter, and never regained consciousness. He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in New York City. I am grateful to Christina Lavine for this information

Authors Comments on the manifest It seems clear that Susan had been to America before and had been back to Ireland to accompany her younger sister. I have traced a Susan McKenna in the 1892 manifest index but as the contemporary material was destroyed in a fire it is not possible to confirm that this is the same person.
Subsequent events, where known Susan married Joseph Conlon. They had one son Joseph who had a daughter, I have no further information yet. Susan sponsored most of her neices and nephews who entered the USA in the years from 1914 to 1923. She and her husband returned at least once to Ireland. She is buried in Binghampton, New York State.
